Celebrating the life of
Shirley Ann Turner
February 24, 1936 - September 23, 2011
Savannah- Shirley Ann Turner, née Honecker, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died Friday evening in Savannah, Georgia.
Born February 24, 1936, in Centralia, Illinois, Shirley married Joseph B. Turner in 1955. As a military wife, she traveled and lived all over the United States and on Guam while raising their children. Shirley was multi-talented: a gifted artist who drew and painted, a talented seamstress who made her daughter's wedding dress as well as clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren, a cutting edge cosmetologist, and a wine maker extraordinaire. She loved gardening, fishing especially in Alaska, and never missed an opportunity to dance. She was also a proud member of The Eastern Star.
Shirley is survived by four daughters: Kim Turner Jackson, Gale Turner Strong, Terry Turner Mitchell, and Jody Turner Hurst; special sons-in-law: Fred Hurst and Stanley Mitchell; eight grandchildren: Jodi Miranda Jorge, Rachel Jackson, Mandy Mitchell Proctor Stephen, Olivia Hurst, Hayley Strong, Emily Jackson, Michael Mitchell, and Nathan Hurst; and four great grandchildren: Genesis Genny Mitchell, Abigail Abby Proctor, Jonathan Proctor, and Kaitlyn Ilizabeth Miranda.
Her family also wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Savannah Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, who took loving care of Shirley during her final years. A private memorial for immediate family will be held later. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to your local Hospice in Shirley's name.

My Grammy was a wonderful woman. She laughed even when the world didn't think things were funny. She made the best of bad times despite the struggles that came up. She embraced life with open arms and gratefulness that we should all be so lucky to enjoy. I will forever love and miss her! Love you to the moon and back Gram!
